to Iceland,

at a time.
We’re Travis and Sonja. We met in Iceland while Travis was backpacking and moved in together two days before COVID shut down the world. Quite the start.
After some immigration snags in Iceland, we made our way to the Netherlands. Travis took a job at a local bar to meet people and learn a little Dutch. When the opportunity came to take over the kitchen, he brought his experience as a fine-dining chef in the US to something a little less formal: burgers.
The food changed, but the mindset stayed the same. Care about the ingredients. Put thought into every component. Make something you’re proud to serve.
Things got busy. Busy enough that Sonja jumped in to save the day, working alongside Travis while still holding down another job. Grilling In The Name became something we were building together.
Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to build a loyal following of people who kept coming back, brought their friends, and stuck with us through the ups and downs. You’ve helped turn this into something bigger than we could have built on our own. We wouldn’t be here without you.
There have been a few bumps along the way, but eventually an opportunity came along to open our own place on Kruisweg.
Now we’re bringing everything we’ve learned—and everything we love about feeding people—to our next chapter.
